Smart Start doesn't erase disk properly

We've found that if one goes through a Smart Start erase and then setup a system using a disk that already had a system on it, files from the previous system are visible in the new systems file system.

I'm not sure if this applies to a new installation of the O/S. But certainly Smart Start is very quick at formatting the disk!

Try using the latest System Erase Utility:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/16251.html
Be sure to power cycle the server when it is done.

It depends on what version (release date) of the SS CD you have. I think the erase util 1.68 has been released since SS 5.2.
