Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

Installation of SmartStart (8.4 & 8.5) x64 on the DL360 (RHEL 5.5 x64) fails.
When starting the installer from the mounted CD via Terminal, i get "not authenticated" and thats it.
I've also tried to copy the entire SmartStart CD onto HD, but starting the Installer from there only gives an "Fatal Error".

So, right now its not possible to install any of the Agents :(

Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

Smart start wont work with Linux, even though its mentioned it supports linux

Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

What ?

The SmartStart cds (8.4 & 8.5) i have say "Supports MS Windows and Linux".
And also, what are numerous .rpms good for (under ..\compaq\csp\linux) if not for Linux ?

Anyway, how can i install all necessary pakets on my system to get hardware-monitoring running ?

Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

So, to be a bit more specific.

Since the autorun isn't working, i've tried to start the installer via terminal.
This is the Result:

**************
[root@server HPSS850_64]# sh ./autorun
CD/USBKEY information
mount directory: /media/HPSS850_64
physical device: /dev/scd0
volume label: HPSS850_64
ARCHITECTURE: x86_64
./autorun: line 116: _autorun/autorun_linux: Keine Berechtigung (means "not authorized")
[root@server HPSS850_64]#
**************

That begs the question, how is one supposed to install the agents/deamons to monitor the hardware ?
I could try to install the .rpms from ../compaq/csp/linux manually, but in what order, what rpms are needed ?

Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

Check if PSP(Prolaint Support Pack) is available for linux. If its available, install it and install all the drivers and firmwares

Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

Problem still persists.

Now, when starting ./hpsum, from CD or HDD, i get a "permission denied".
I'm root, tried sudo and su, but hpsum won't run :(
HP Smart Start is 8.50_64, OS is RH 5.5_64

Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

Geeze,

changed the execute attribute of every file in ../compaq/csp/linux/... (on HDD) to execute by root, and now it works ...

Could have been easier ..

Found the solution, without help from hp :(

Re: Smart Start install Problem on DL360G6 & RHEL5.5

Just tested SmartStart 8.6 with same issue.

When verifying how the DVD/ISO image was mounted we noticed that it automounted as (ro, noexec, *)

By unmount the image and remount it to example /tmp/iso we got it (ro)-only and could run ./autorun successfully.
