SmartArray 3200 - Replacing Accelerator

I have a SmartArray 3200 with a bad accelerator. I want to replace the entire 3200; I'm sure that swapping cards is going to confuse the server.

Is there a way to back up the configuration from the bad 3200 and restore it on a replacement 3200?

Thanks,

Brian

Re: SmartArray 3200 - Replacing Accelerator

Hi Brian,

Swapping the card won't confuse the server. The current configuration is held on all disks and they inform the replacement controller of the configuration at POST, so it can be done with confidence.

There is nothing held on the controller so it can be swapped for the same model or even upgraded to something like a 5300 and the configuration is still valid and passed to the replacement controller.

You can still perform an online backup of the O/S and data disks before swapping if you wish.

I hope this helps.

Brian

Brian:
Thanks; that makes it a whole lot easier to replace. ;)
