SmartArray 5i failure on DL585

Hi,

We have a DL585 that appears to have a RAID controller failure. The drives are not lighting up and during POST we're seeing the following error: The SmartArray initialization times out after about 3 minutes and the following messages appears:

SmartArray Failure, (cmd=11h, err=020h)

I've done some searching and cannot find a similar incident. Before I request a tech on site I thought I'd see if anyone on here has encountered anything similar.

Thanks,

Hi Josh,

Try updating the firmware on the controller, it is available at:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/22622.html

Also check the BIOS version if possible and if it is an old version, would suggest to update that as well.

All the Best!!!!

Unfortunately it's not just a firmware issue, the controller isn't initializing at all. It does not show up in diagnostics, for example.

Hello Josh,

If there is a array accelarator module, take it out and power-on the server with the controller only.
Btw,whats the controller model?
Leds on the controller if any?

Sandeep,

Thanks - the server is currently being moved off the data center floor and to a maintenance area. I will test without the accelerator module once the server is in place.

Thanks,
