SmartArray 642 h/w failure on DL380 G5
Hi There!
SmartArray 642 controller just can't be seen by DL380 G6 server. Even no SA642 BIOS messages during POST.
There's some diagnostic LEDs on controller's board: CR5 through CR12. I've got: CR5 - amber, CR7 and CR8 - green, others are down. What does it mean? Any ideas?
TIA

Re: SmartArray 642 h/w failure on DL380 G5
When you say, can't be seen. You are speaking during POST, right? Did you happen to check the server BIOS under PCIe devices and see if it still reported as installed. If it is still being reported, then it's probably a bad Smart Array HBA. If it isn't reported, then it could be slot or bad HBA.

Re: SmartArray 642 h/w failure on DL380 G5
Yep, during POST. And not listed in PCI devices in server BIOS.
Slot is OK.
I know that's HBA failure. But some clues about LEDs? Maybe there's a chance...
