SmartStart not recognising sata raid controller

i've configured an array (RAID 1) on a DL320 G5p. When i boot from the SmartStart CD i can't see it.

i had a look here http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1204962

and it looks like i have the same issue. can someone confirm whether this is indeed so?

Re: SmartStart not recognising sata raid controller

Smartstart is for the SAS and SCSI controllers only.

The SATA controllers are considered low end, and are limited in their tools such as smart start.

You will need to get your hands on the driver and either slipstream it into Windows or use a driver floppy.

Exactly. This is even logical - SMART Start and SMART Array Controllers :) If you don't have Smart Array controller, you don't need smartstart.

Re: SmartStart not recognising sata raid controller

thank you, that's all i wanted to know.

For completeness let me add that i installed windows 2003 r2 without the need for floppies or slipstreaming. the nic drivers among others were missing and i found them on the smartstart cd
