Smartstart 5.5- "Non system disk"

I'm very confused. I have successfully booted from Smart Start CD's before now on my Proliant 800 (as you would expect!), but now after running an Erase it reports ANY Smart Start CD as "non system disk". If I put a Windows 2003 disk in, it will boot no problem instantly!

Your help could stop me going insane!

Re: Smartstart 5.5- "Non system disk"

Correction: Error is "Invalid system disk". I can boot from the Compaq floppies, but cannot configure the array using those, so at the moment I'm completely stuffed!
Also, i have upgraded the BIOS to the latest available- still no difference.

I don't understand why it will ONLY not boot from the Smartstart CD!!!

Re: Smartstart 5.5- "Non system disk"

Normally SS CD 5.5 or less should do work
Try to remove one CPU (if it dual)
If any FX Cards or RILOE remove them also
Clear CMOS once again
Last option swap CD ROM? (Settings for CD ROM CS)
Also if you have LCD at front you might want to disconnect it for test

Re: Smartstart 5.5- "Non system disk"

He said he COULD boot the Windows CD, but NOT the SmartStart CD's.
Well that IS odd. But you said you got it booted off a floppy set, could you not read the CD then? Bad CD?

Re: Smartstart 5.5- "Non system disk"

I changed the CD drive- still didn't work.
Found a SmartStart 5.4 disk- which worked!!

So strange because I managed to boot from the 5.5 CD only 3 days ago, but now it wont have it! Oh well, 5.4 does it!
