Smartstart and memory
The problem is that smartstart cannot be run if both the 128 and the 512 MB modules are installed. The system stalls if smartstart is trying to detect the 5300 controller.
Smartstart is working if I use the internal array controller.
To get the inspect running, I have run smartstart and configured the 5300 array controller with only 512 MB installed. (No problem)
After running smartstart, I have moved the 512 MB to slot 2, installed the 128 MB DIMM in slot 1and started inspect.
Herewith the inspect file.
Notice that the 5300 controller is not in the inspect file...
The following is tested with various 128 MB memory modules
128 OK
256 OK
512 OK
128 128 OK
128 512 NOT OK
128 256 OK

Re: Smartstart and memory
If you are not using the embedded array controller, remove the little board from the system and put it away. This is known to cause some odd behavior in some cases and this may be the source of this issue.
