Solution
Mike:
To get beyond the 502GB Logical Volume Limit, you need to change Smart Array controllers.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_EX030203_CW01
Only Smart Array controllers of the fifth generation architecture (and later) support logical drives larger than 502 GB. The following Smart Array controllers have fifth generation architecture:
Smart Array 5302 Controller
Smart Array 5304 Controller
Smart Array 5312 Controller
Smart Array 532 Controller
Smart Array 5i Plus Controller
I recommend the 5304 controller for your ML570 G1 server. Be sure to install this controller in PCI Slot 4 or 5.
I hope this helps you! -john
