Re: Software & Driver Requirement

The process is to create the ROMPaq disk, and boot the system from it. The ROMPaq utility will come up and guide you through the rest... This goes for the system and options ROMPaqs.

You will need to run the Win2K "Primer" utility first:

"ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp10501-11000/sp10652.exe"

This will remove any incompatible Compaq software from the NT install.

Then update the firmware for the system, controllers and drives (if needed):

"http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/8571.html" (3000 ROMPaq)

"http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/9044.html" (Options ROMPaq)

Run the latest System Configuration Utility (not an old version) and then save and exit (no need for manual changes most of the time).

You should then be able to download the Win2K SupportPaq to a temp directory and run the Win2K upgrade, pointing to that SupportPaq when drivers are needed from us. You may want to run the SupportPaq's installer afterwards to ensure that any other components you need/want are installed that Win2K didn't look for on it's own, but remember to NOT force drivers to install that the system doesn't need (like "Hot-plug PCI"...).
