Sound Card for ML115 and safe mode

Hello

1) I purchased the ML115 but I am looking for a sound card for this model. Any help would be really appreciated.

2) Also, how do I get into safe mode on this model, is it still F8?

Thanks to all for any help.

Re: Sound Card for ML115 and safe mode

What generation of 115 you have? Is it the G1 or the G5? If running windows then yes t is still f8 to get into safe mode.

ML115 Supported options (NO Sound card listed)

ML115 G5 Supported options (NO Sound card listed)

Since HP does not offer PCI sound cards then those are not suuported in case you experience any issue when adding one of those. Take in account the following when getting a 3rd party card.

ML115 G1 supports only PCI-X and 3.3 volt PCI @ 133 MHz

ML115 G5 32bit/33MHz PCI 3.3V Full Height
X8 PCI Express In a x8 slot Full Height
X16 PCI Express Full Height

Hope this can be handy.

Re: Sound Card for ML115 and safe mode

Thanks Carlos.

Yeah my model is a G1.

Are you able to provide a link to the type of sound card. I noticed you gave the sound card details. Just wondered what to specifically look for.

I also notice that HP don't provide support for this model server.

I will gave you your points on the next answer. Don't worry, it will be good.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Sound Card for ML115 and safe mode

Hi, the sound card must match the following criteria: Only PCI-X and 3.3 volt PCI @ 133 MHz. Audio is extremely low bandwidth compared to video, so PCI-X and PCI Express are overkill for audio by several orders of magnitude. Since regular PCI is backward compatible with PCI-X then you can choose among several manufacturers as long as they are 133 MHz.

As an example a good cheap choice is http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=205&product=14257&nav=3

What you need to be careful is whether the OS you have installed in your server is compatible with the drivers provided by the manufacturer.

Thanks.

I use a Creative Audigy 2 ZS in my ML115 and it works a treat. Only cost me ├В┬г12.50 shipped on ebay.
