Split HD safely

What is the easisiet way to split my c:\ drive after os is installed. I know partion magic does. I have DL-580 . I haven't read all the HP CD's that comes with server yet. I gave my C:\ root too much.

Re: Split HD safely

Well, this depends on the OS. If you are using a "Server" OS PM will not resize it, on Server Magic.
All other solution, backup and restore or Image, would require another storage media for the backup or Image

That is "Only Server Magic" or the current VolumeMagic or Volume Manager I can't remember what they call it, but it is rather expensive.

Re: Split HD safely

I would prefer to take a ghost image of the server C then create new partition of any size which is equal to actual data size on C. Then restore the ghost image.

As simple as that.
In this case you have a valid backup also while you are doing this activity.

Re: Split HD safely

lovina,

You may try Ntfsresize, look for the GParted LiveCD ISO image, I've tried it some months ago with no problems at all.

Good luck,
