Starting up ML370 G4 From IDE Drive
The ML370 G4 I have doesn't have any SCSI drive. I added an IDE drive as a master with the DVD drive as the slave.
I am able to start up Parted Magic from CD. I am also able to run Ubuntu from USB. I install Ubuntu from a USB key to the hard drive. All went well. However, I can't start up from the IDE hard drive itself.
Is there any known restriction on this? Has anyone done this before?

Re: Starting up ML370 G4 From IDE Drive
Hi there,
IDE ports provided on the system board are to connect IDE CD/DVD drives only.
IDE HDD is not supported on ML370 G4 server.
thanks,
Aftab

SCSI drives or a SAS or SAS RAID controller with SAS drives. IDE hard drives are not supported on ML370.
