StorageWorks D2600 and DL580 Gen8

Hi there, I have just been handed a new HP DL580 Gen8 and StorageWorks D2600 and asked to configure them quickly. The issue I am facing is the D2600 is not recognized by the DL580. I have connected the SAS to mini-SAS cable from I/O Module A, Port 1 on the StorageWorks D2600  to Port 1 of the Mini-Sas card of the DL580 server. The SmartArray controller of the DL580 is P830i. All firmware and drivers on the DL580 is current and updated by the HP SUM. The DL580 is running Windows Server 2008 R2. Bios is running in Legacy BIOS mode. I do not see the D2600 in the HP SmartArray Config Utility. I feel like I have done all that the limited documentation recommends, but it seems I am missing something, probably something really simple. Does anyone out there have any experience with this configuration that could offer some advice?

Re: StorageWorks D2600 and DL580 Gen8

Hi,

I was checking the QuickSpecs of D2000 storage and it does not list DL580 Gen8 or P830i as compatible.

DL580 Gen8 QuickSpecs shows E7W32A = HP D2600 w/12 4TB 6G SAS 7.2K LFF Dual Port MDL HDD 48TB Bundle, this as compatible.

My guess is that P830i is not compatible with D2600, check its QuickSpecs to see a list of compatible controllers.

Thank You!

Hi and thanks for the reply. You are correct and I misspoke. The P830i is the onboard controller. This DL580 has a SAS card installed which is P431, which is listed as compatible. From what I am seeing, the P431 controller is not being seen by the system in the BIOS, ACU or OS.
