Support Pack 8.60 vs Firmware disk 9.20

Hi there,

I had a support pack which I ran the install for and it appeared to do it. Then I ran the firmware 9.20 disk as well and that updated all the firmware. Whats the difference between what the support pack has updated and the firmware disk?

Support Pack is usually a compilation of drivers and software for your server.

Firmware Disk is usually a compilation of device firmwares for your server.

Two different concepts, but usually work together to give you the best stable supported configuration.

Support Pack is "software" for your Operating System that tells the OS how to access and use the hardware.

Firmware Disk is the "software" your hardware devices use to initialize and operate.

One disk has firmware, the other disks has drivers, agents and management tools.

Hope this helps!
