Surveyor.exe starting multipal times.

Has anyone else had this issues where the surveyor.exe is running more then ones instance of its self. when you try to get a report you get errors. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall with the lattest survey program with no luck. I started seeing this after upgrading from 4.9 to 5.2 and up have not been able to resolve this. tech support has not been helpful either. This effects 170 servers. mixed win2000 and nt4.

Hi,

Never come across such information.

There is a option to set the interval when it is going to get execute have you try to check for that. Which PSP ( Proliant Support Pack we have on 2k Box.If we check session details that also get effected or not.

We are currently on management agents 6.2
It seems to have maigrated with each upgrade.
What intervel options are you refereing to.

Hi,

If i am not wrong, can we form following steps.

1) try to stop managemnt services/boot in safe mode (since all servers are affted we can try on any one)
2) Rename this file first Surveyor.exe and survey.exe.
3) Information i ahve these files are ment to colledt IML log from server to post infrmation in Survey.txt which is in same folder. I we rename these file the servies regarding that will not work and Managment agent still be running.
In command promt if you try to type survey/?
Check for listed option. Bec in all os we can set the time internval for this file to execute so it can fetch infomration and dispatch to survey.txt.

Note: Survey.txt will contain information regardging the last time the file is executed.

Thoes steps did not work. I tried using survey -u to unload it. had to kill the process to get reid of surveyor.exe I tried survey -i to install the surveyor and keep it running. still it starts a second instance. Is there a way to completely remove survey and all register pointers and dll files. So I can try a clean install of just survey utility.

It is not the intervel that is causeing me the problem. I am getting duplicate process of surveyor.exe running. there for the first instence does not run nor does the second. and I get on report generated by survey. Therefor making it useless to use. IT is a problem. and must be fixed. I can not see that I am the only person having this issue.

Let me say this way a application (Surveyor.exe) has multiple instances. His job is to get information from system. Even we shedule it to get details after 1 day still it is running at background.

Is that possible can you attach the survey.txt for same server or following information from same server.

Never comacross this kind of problem i am try to get more inputs, anything else in paticular you like to share.
