Swapping drive caddies
Hello again. As a followup to my previous topic (https://community.hpe.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-ML-DL-SL/Drive-doesn-t-fit-in-ML110/m-p/7139133/highlight/true#M174937), it looks like I have to return the incompatible disks, in order to procure new, Low-Profile ones.
However the store will not accept one of the disks back, due to my having opened it when I initially tried to install it. I don't want to get into details on how I feel about this, and it's irrelevant anyway. My question is: Does HPE supply a stand-alone low-profile caddy so that I can replace the one on the opened disk? After some search I found part #774026-001, but I'm not sure if this is right, or whether it will support the LEDs? Could you provide some insight please?
Cheers,
Spyros

Re: Swapping drive caddies
Hi,
As far as I know, HPE does not sell only the drive caddy.
The part number 774026-001 you mentioned, is not sold by HPE, this is my presumption.
A similar post is here. https://community.hpe.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-ML-DL-SL/DL380-Gen10-s-LFF-hard-drive-caddy/td-p/7034797
Thank You!

Re: Swapping drive caddies
Further update.
The price I was quoted by my supplier for the new, low-profile drives was EUR 227 each -- 70% over the price that I had purchased the original drives!
This is a JOKE! They are the exact same drives (refer to HPE SATA Drives - HDD/SSD Model Number Matrix ), HPE model #MB4000GVYZK, part nos. 861683-B21 (LP), 872491-B21 (SC).
The exact same model number, the only difference is in the caddy. Price difference of ~$110 for a lousy piece of plastic, and a "dumb" one at that (no electronic parts on the LP caddy).
HPE, what the h? Are you actively trying to "drive" away customers?
I should just go buy the LP caddies from a third-party supplier and replace the SC on the drives.
Looking forward to hearing how you can explain this!
