Switching RAID - Controller results in inaccessible boot device
because of certain migrations, a bootable RAID5 partition with w2k was moved from a ML370G1 with Smart Array 3200 to a ML370G1 with Smart Array 5300.
Switching back to a 3200 gave no result, the server did not boot.
Using the smart araay 5300 means to switch over from cqparray.sys to cpqcissm.sys. Via recoveryconsole we disabled the cpqarray.sys, added the new device drivers and set them as boot device.
Result is still a bluescreen with the error Inaccessible boot device.
Has anybody other ideas about it ??
Greetings Guido

Re: Switching RAID - Controller results in inaccessible boot device
To test this you could just let the disk/controller in the source server and just plug the cable from the 3200 to the 5300, if this works it will also work in the new machine.

Re: Switching RAID - Controller results in inaccessible boot device
that's the way to migrate the controller. Unfortunalety the controller was changed before the additional drivers were installed.
The raid does no longer booting using a 3200 controller. It seems the bootstrap is changed. With a 5300 the raid starts up but w2k crashed in a blue screen.
So I must find another way to add the drivers on the harddisk.
Greetings
Guido

Re: Switching RAID - Controller results in inaccessible boot device
Create first two diskettes ant make sure System Partition also Updated for New controller, for feature that Step should be also done prior let System BOOT, you can also try now, however it's not Guaranteed
