Sys volume creation
We recently purchased an ML530 with a SmartArray 5302/64 raid controller and 12 18gb U3 Hotplug drives.
The SmartStart install of NetWare 5.0 goes well until we reach the partition/Sys creation screen. The partition size is shown correct, but the default Sys volume size shows as 4Exabytes(???) and CANNOT be changed.
I am at a loss here as to the problem. This is what weve tried:
Newest Bios ROMPaq
Newest Compaq/NetWare Support Software drivers
full assist/semi assist/manual installs
installs with SmartStart/bootable floppy/NetWare 5 CD
clean downloaded profile diskette
NetWare 4.11(same results)
It seems as though the the array/partition translation is getting mangled along the way, but I am unable to determine where, leat alone, how to fix this. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Sys volume creation
Sorry. I failed to mention that these drives are in a Raid5+1 configuration. The correct partition size is 187Gb.

Re: Sys volume creation
Hello Jcassidy,
The problem is not Compaq, it is Novell. You have to use a new Nwconfig.nlm. It is located in the service pack for Netware 5.0. Copy this nlm to the nwserver directory on your dos partition. This will solve youre problem!
