Hi All,

We have a problem which has sporadically reoccured over the past year.

Issue:

All fans "reported" to have being removed from the motherboard/disconnected. This is when it is racked and plugged in - so not possible that any fans have been removed from the system at all.

I have looked around and can't find any possible cause for this issue. I don't want to take the server offline and check internally at present as its a busy server, but was hoping someone may be able to kindly shed some light on the problem / recommend and troubleshooting steps.

I believe we are on the latest firmware for the server as there was an indication it could be firmware related, so this shouldn't be the issue.

If anyone could provide advice that would be great,

The bios version is pretty old.

If you check the fixes under revision history:

"Resolved an issue where the system could incorrectly report a fan failure."

I had this same exact issue on some BL685c G7 running W2k8 Enterprise

System Information Agent: Health: Fan Inserted. A hot-plug fan has been inserted into the system.
Chassis: '0'; Fan: '1'
[SNMP TRAP: 6038 in CPQHLTH.MIB]

After Hp told me to shut off the alering (what a dumb idea) I decied to update the blades.

Updating to System BIOS 03/07/2016 ILO 1.88 and Onboard Administrator Firmware 4.60 resolve this issue
