System Management Homepage Service not running after update to 6.0.0.96

Hello everyone!

I've updated the smh to 6.0.0.96 on a proliant dl360 g4 with windows server 2003 (sp2).

The Installation was performed successfull.
But the service wasn't started after installation. If I now try to start it, I get an error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Repair installation doesn't help. Removing and reinstalling smh version 3.x doesn't help.
Always the same error.
The are no relevant entries in the smh.log

Does anyone has an advise for me what I can do?

What SS or psp u r using ?

The server was installed with SS 7.80 an is updated several time via vcagent to level 8.15 with some parts on 8.30.
System Bios is not up to date, since rebooting is not possible. The server is in production use and so I need a fix for the smh issue without rebooting.

Hi,

If you cannot reboot the machine, here is one thing which you can try.

Remove all the agents one by one.
SMH should be last component removed.
Delete the folder c:/hp
Now install 8.30 PSP with all components freshly.
Now SMH 3.0.2-77 would have got installed with all the agents.
Browse to SMH. SMH would come up with all the agents data.
Now upgrade SMH alone to 6.0.0.96.
Now restart SMH.
This should work.

Uninstalling wasn't an issue this time.
But removing the hp folder doesn't work completely, since the smhstart.exe was in use.
I discovered WMI to access this file. Restartet the WMI Service has given free the smhstart, so I could remove it.
Could be connected to my previous issues deinstalling it...
I am now installing the agents and afterwards smh new again...

It worked, the server is now running smh and vca again without errors.
