System clock is running slow
I have a single server network running Novell 5.0 Service pack 5.5 on a Proliant 3000 450Mhz system.
The system clock seems to be running about 1 minute per hour slow. I have seen other complaints on your message board relating to timesync problem but when I unload the timesync.nlm the server time is still running slow. I there a problem or conflict with Compaq servers and Novell software?

The problem is an issue with Netware 5.x ...... A couple of workarounds Apply latest OS patch , update IDE CDROM driver from Novell , downgrade Timesync.nlm to previous version .

This is a bug in sp2a you need to down load file os5pt2a.exe from Novell's
web site.

I am providing a little more information regarding this issues if you wish to do a little reading off the Novell Support Site.
Netware 5.0 TIMESYNC Issues Explained.
Symptom: Loses time, Time Loss, Gains time
Cause: Timer interrupts can potentially be held off too long by drivers and/or components in the system which causes the time to drift.
Fix: Install updated IDEATA.HAM from IDEATA5.EXE ( http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/ideata5.exe ) available from Novell Support. This version of IDEATA supercedes the version included in NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 2A and Netware 5 Support Pack 6A. The update resolves time drift issues due to lost time interrupts.
NOTE:
If you apply IDEATA on servers with Pentium III processors then it is necessary to install the updated SERVER.EXE from OS5FT2A.EXE available from Novell Support. This version of SERVER.EXE supercedes the versions included in NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 2A and NetWare 5 Support Pack 6A. The update SERVER.EXE includes a fix for Pentium III processor XMM registers issue.

To ensure that this is not a Compaq hardware issue check out the F10 Partiton (System Configuration Utility) go under the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION\POWER ON DEFAULTS\DATE AND TIME and ensure that the time is set correctly if not correctly set the time and check back in a couple of days to see if the CMOS battery is failing
If you have the new RBSU install then go under the DAT AND TIME setting and follow the same steps.
