System doesn't recognize the Smart Array 5i

I've tried to plug-in the 5i array controller from a Proliant DL380G2 in a Proliant ML370G2. The BIOS doesn't recognize the array controller. I've double checked the cables, tests it with 2 other 5i controllers: same problem. Also tried another ML370 G2 server, same problem. Also down loaded the latest BIOS version (P25 17-5-02) where this problem is described: makes no difference. Is it possible that you can't install the 5i from a DL380 in a ML370? Are there 2 versions of this controller, one for the DL380, and one for the ML370 ?

Smart Start will stop when it starts configuring the array controller and shows an error: no disk found. Because the system doesn't see the Array controller, the system is searching for disks connected to the SCSI adapter.

many thanks,
Timo

Re: System doesn't recognize the Smart Array 5i

Hi

The 5i controllers have different part numbers on the ML370 and DL380 so I presume there is a difference with the controller it self
