Re: System not coming up

Hello Anik,
Do you have an array controller in the system?? If you do could you please let us know as to which kind. You may need to update the firmware of the controller as well if you haven't done it already.

Re: System not coming up

Anik,
If you have an older model of Smart Array controller which I assume you do then you can download the firmware from the following link:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/14694.html
Depending upon as to what type the controller is you may need to make just one diskette since this softpaq requires four formatted floppies.

Re: System not coming up

Yes you are right. We have a smart2DH controller with firmware of 3.08. What do we do?? Do you think our system will come back up after we flash the firmware?? We have lots of data on the server and cannot afford to loose it.
Thanks!

Re: System not coming up

Anik,
In that case you need to create the first diskette only from the link I sent to you. Cold boot the system with the first diskette and follow the onscreen instructions.
Please let me know as to how do you make out.

Re: System not coming up

Sunil,
Thanks for your help. Everything is up and running here. Just one little problem though. When the system posts we are a strange message regarding the firmware of HDDs. Is it so that we have to update those HDDs??
Thanks again,

Re: System not coming up

yes that's a normal message when the HDD's firmware version is not in sync with the firmware of the Array Controller. Here the link to download the support paq for updating the firmware:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17149.html
This softpaq requires 10 diskettes. Just make the first one and cold boot the system with the diskette. Then it will let you know as to which other diskettes are required. You can go ahead and create all the diskettes if you would like but it would not be necessary.

Regards,
