System overheat

Dear all,

I have a DL380 G6 server with the following configuration:

1. 2 Intel Xeon X5550 @ 6.67 GHZ of processors
2. 16 GB of Memory
3. 4 SAS HDD of 146 GB (RAID 5 configured with 1 HS)
4. RPS

The system is working fine but it generating heat. After running for 2/3 hours, the Heatsink of Processor & Motherboard become very very hot and the server itself blows hot air from the back of the server. I do check all the fans of the server and all of them are ok, and there is no blockage or air supply. Th server is in the environment where another same server with same configure is running smoothly along with other servers. Though the over temp amber is not blinking, but if it become so hot in 2/3 hours what will happen if it goes to the live environment?

Is there any process to check the system health of the server or any log to collect any relevant information. The OS is Windows 2003 Enterprise edition of 32 bit.

Re: System overheat

Hello Kranti,

Unless this is a specific Hardware issue, Please make sure you have the latest PSP installed.

PSP has Health Agents.

Thanks & Regards,
James.
