Tape Drive Replacement

Which tape backup up device in current production do you recommend as a direct replacement for our ageing external DLT 15/30

Re: Tape Drive Replacement

You have a choice between DLT 35/70 ,DLT 40/80 or SDLT 110/220 drives if you want to stick with the DLT family. If you're using DLTIII media cartridges they can be used in the 35/70 and 40/80, but the SDLT drives use new cartridges. We've used the 35/70 and 40/80's with good success, just keep in mind that your SCSI controller supports the interface on the drive. Some are single-ended, others LVD (Low Voltage Differential) and some may even be HVD (High Voltage Differential). If you put an HVD device on a single-ended controller you could burn out the device and/or controller. Remember you can contact Compaq's pre-sales support to assist in your selection.
