Tape unit in a HP Proliant ML360 ML

Hi,

we recently bought a Proliant server to be used as webserver under Linux (Debian). We want to attach a tape unit in order to backup data.

I am considering the model DAT 160 SCSI (AG907AT/AG908AT), internal or external, and I need to know if I should buy an aditional controller for the tape.

The BIOS says that this server has two arrays installed (?): HP Smart Array P411 (Slot 6) and HP Smart Array P410i (embedded).

Do I need aditional hardware for the tape unit?

Thanks in advance.

Hello!

ML360? There is no such model.. DL360 maybe? What generation?

For the ML350 G5 see this link:

In there you can also click around and see recommendations for other servers.

Hi Johan,

thank you for your answer. You are right, it was a misspelling. Obviously the number 6 goes with the 'G', and the correct model is ML350 G6.

If I buy a DAT 160 SAS internal/external, should it be possible to connect it to the SmartArray which I already have (P410i/P411)? Right now there are two SAS disks (146GB in RAID 1) attached to it.

According to this page, it should be possible (?).

Thank you again in advance.

Yeup, that should work fine. It appears to work on both of your cards :)
