Re: Team 2 NICs?

The HP Network Configuration Utility is found in the Control Panel.

To configure a Cisco 2960 I would suggest using Cisco Network Assistant (CNA). This is a Windows application that will allow you do carry out most configuration options without using IOS commands. You will be able to set up an 802.3ad link between two ports using this.

See guide at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960/software/release/12.2_25_see/configuration/guide/swethchl.html

The CNA tools is at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5931/ and although you need to log in I believe that it is a free download.

Re: Team 2 NICs?

Hi all,

I downloaded Cisco Network Assistant version 5.5 from the website after logging in...

But it won't install! I've tried installing on...

* Windows 7 Pro x64
* Windows XP Pro 32-bit
* Server 2008 R2 x64

Each time, same problem... Hourglass flashes for a second, disappears, and that's that. No errors, no nothing.

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong and help me get this working? I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

And I now have the HP Network Configuration Utility. So do I configure the Cisco ports first (assuming I can get the CNA working) THEN create the NIC team? Or do I configure the team first then go to the switch?

OK, I finally got the CNA installed. All tools available, fellas. What now? Thanks!

The order you do it in will not matter, but bear in mind that you will need console access to the server as you will lose network connectivity when you create the team.

The member nics will lose their connectivity (they do not have an IP address in their own right). The team will appear with default IP settings (normally assigned by DHCP). You need to change these to your static settings. Then you should have connectivity again, once you have changed the switch port settings.

Re: Team 2 NICs?

Great! Can you or someone else please tell me how to setup the ports on the switch using the CNA software package? Thanks!

Re: Team 2 NICs?

I would just dive in and try it. You should be in Configure | Ports | Etherchannels.

You CREATE a group and tick two ports to join the group. Remote device will be NONE.

You may want to refer to this Cisco document, although it assumes that you are using the command line interface:
