Temp Ratings for DL360's

We're setting up temp/humidity monitoring in our server cabinets. These cabinets have different 360 models installed (G2,G3,G4's) - up to 32 in a cabinet. In researching the Operating Temperatures of these servers I noticed it's documented to be between 50-90 degrees. But what is the temperature threshold where a server will send a thermal condition alarm? Are they hard coded (I would think so) and is there a way I can view them? (BIOS maybe?) Our datacenter engineer's are asking as well. Thanks.

Hello Steve,

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11049_div/11049_div.HTML#TechSpecs

The techspecs talks about the Humidity/BTU/Temperature.

You can use MCS management software for monitoring the enclosures.

Hello Steve,

Sorry, I see now, you never mentioned MCS.

Re: Temp Ratings for DL360's

Steve, the thresholds are hard coded and they can be viewed on the Environment page of the System Management Homepage for one. However, be aware that temperatures inside the case do not correlate with ambient temperatures, so don't base any of your environmental settings based on this.

Re: Temp Ratings for DL360's

As David said, it is hard coded. You may use this helpful & handy tool Site/Rack Preparation Utility

http://h30099.www3.hp.com/configurator/calc/Site Preparation Utility.xls

You can replicate the amount of servers and other equipment you currently have in your site and at the end you will get valuable information such as total BTU, total VA, Input Watt & Amp...

Hope this can be of help.
