Temperature

I've recently purchased a second hand 3000R (rack mounted) from a company fire-sale, and noted that the fans tend to power up/down frequently. Is this normal? How can I check the temperature within the case - is there a Compaq tool to do that?

Re: Temperature

Follow this link. You will need to install all the agents and Insight manager (first one). The System Mngmnt driver is what controls the fans. Also since you are running Windows 2000 please make sure the BIOS is up to par.

Okay, I've installed Insight Manager (first link) and all the agents I could... but not sure where I configure the fan settings?

Re: Temperature

Sorry if I have misled you. The fans cannot be controlled in this server. The system mngmnt driver is used for moinitoring purposes like temperature, memory etc. You can use Insight Manager to monitor the temperature and general errors. The fans will spin up and down depending on the demand to keep the server cool.
