Tracking down original configs for old servers

Is there some reference point online here where I can punch in a serial number of an old server (in my case, I have 8 old ProLiant AMD-based servers) and get the original config?

I know another hardware vendor has this available on their support area.

The only other option I'm going to have is firing these things up.

Partsurfer will generally give you a rundown on what is in a system http://partsurfer.hp.com/ Put the serial number in the search box.

Another option is to google the produt-id (part number) That will usually return a description in the quickspecs
