Troubles installing Netware 5.1 on ML350 G3
Hi there,
I'm actually trying to get netware 5.1 on a proliant server for now 2 days, and getting bored by the results, so I hope somebody can help with this. Here is the server config :
ML350 G3 with 1 Xeon 2.4 (firm D14)
hyper threading on or off doesn't seem to change anything in this case
1.5 G of RAM (1g + 512M)
hp smart array 642 (firm 1.30)
4x 36.4G disks (10k rpm, U320)
raid 5 on 3 disks + 1 spare
DLT 40/80 attached to inboard scsi controller
Q57 NIC
The point is that nw takes ages to install, whereas it normally takes around 1/2 an hour to install on a hp tc4100. It seems that the server is just into sleep mode. It is as well impossible to make a normal reboot, always hangs with hard drive access light on.
Any help is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Troubles installing Netware 5.1 on ML350 G3
There is a known issue with Smartstart 6.00-6.30 and creating a DOS partition over 1400MB.
An error in the cylinder/head/sector (CHS) information causes misalignment of the sectors in the FAT16 (the 16-bit file system used by DOS) boot record, preventing the server from booting to the DOS partition.
Use Smartstart 6.40 or create a DOS boot partition less than 1400MB.
Rgds, Gert Luyten.
