Troubleshooting the Management processors once and for all!

Hi there

Last session i had on the topic i mentioned was with a guy named Ken.

He told me to check the IML log, to sse that there are not evets there, and the eventlog is clear.

(this is the answer i sent to ken, but he didn't reply to my answer)
===============
I checked the IML log, and it is cleared, nothing in it.

I added you a screen shot from my opsmgr2007, and the hp system management homepage, i hope it'll help.

You can see in the screen shot that i checked the ignore status from the

management processor, but i guess it's not doing the job, or maybe i need

to disable something else?

Maybe i need to disable it in the device manager, what do you think?
====================

Thanks again,
Nahum

I've seen several post from you about this same thing

well right now I don't have any server in front of me or remote one but in control panel there is a icon that says HP management agents that one that some active and inactive agents If I am not wrong there is a agent for Management processor I don't remember the name but you can check there and disable it that will help you stopping that red X
Didn't your momma teach you to say thanks!

Re: Troubleshooting the Management processors once and for all!

Hi Karlo,

Thanks for the reply, i checked the hp management agents in the control panel, the agents i have in status active are:

Host Information
Performance monitor
External status monitor
Software version
Threshold support
Host remote alerter
System information
Remote insight information
Server remote alerter
Fibre array information
IDE Information
iSCSI information
Drive array information
SCSI information
SAS information
Storage remote alerter
NIC information

The inactive agnets are:
Clustering information
Rack information

I remember that when i changed the remote insight information, i saw that the problem was gone, BUT...the big question is, if something happends to my server (cpu problem, hard disk problem, memory problem etc) will i'll still get this information or i won't? becuase i turned the agent to inactive.

I don't want to be "left out in the dark" when i have hardware maulfunction on my server.

Hope you undestand exactlly what i mean, and the list above that i gave you will be usefull, because i couldn't see the Management processor agent you mentioned in the list.

Best regards,
Nahum

Re: Troubleshooting the Management processors once and for all!

If you are not using the Management Processor, you can go ahead and add Remote insight information to the Inactive Agents in the HP Management Agents in Control Panel. You will still get your alerts from SIMS. I do this with all of the Mgt. Processors that we don't use. The only caveat is that the software version will still show up in the VCA and if it is outdated, you will get an error.

Re: Troubleshooting the Management processors once and for all!

Hey Rancher,

Thanx for your reply, i'll do as you suggested and hope for the best.

btw, i have one server that even when i'm moving the remote insight agnet from the active, to the inactive agents, it still doesn't refresh in the OPSMGR console (anf it's been something like 1 hour since i've done that.

If you have ny suggestions i'll be happy.

Best regards,
