Trying to Install Windows 2000 pro (workstation) on DL380 G3

We have software that will not run on Server 2000/2003 and need to install Windows 2000 pro on the DL380. The problem is the installation process will not recognize any of the 4 SCSI Drives as being valid drives to install the OS on.

Please respond ASAP with any ideas.

Are you using the embedded controller (5i) for the drives? If so, then you should be able to press F6 during the install and specify the controller driver. The Windows 2000 driver is meant for Win2000 Server, but should work fine:

The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Hi

This is becuase you dont have the drivers for the scsi controller, for this you need to install the OS from the smart start cd (latest) which will take care of this problem.

Terry, you're solution worked. However I had to copy files from the SmartStart disc to a floppy, and load it as 5300 and 6i, if I just chose one or the other the install would fail.

But we got it up and running with 2000 wkstn, THANKS!
