Trying to install openBSD

I am trying to Install openbsd on a fairly new Proliant DL380 G2. However it appears that the 5i controller is not supported. Any ideas?

Re: Trying to install openBSD

OpenBSD does not have a native driver in its i386 Hardware List for the 5x series controllers. From the looks of it, very few of the 64bit controllers are on this list. Since HP does not appear to be making an effort to port them, this is a user community effort only so, it may be a long while.

Re: Trying to install openBSD

That is what I have been finding on the net. Any suggestions on a "free" secure *nix based OS that might work? Unfortunately the HP products are not an option due to cost restraints. It is amazing that I can spend all this time trying to hack something in for free, but not buy a supported OS.

Re: Trying to install openBSD

The DL380G2 has support for:

Red Hat versions from 6.2 on up...
UnitedLinux 1.0
SUSE versions 7 - 8
SCO 5, 7 & 8
or Solaris 7 & 8

Now... getting these for free and getting good support on those O/S (patches and updates, etc) for free will require some effort.
Enjoy!

Re: Trying to install openBSD

Thank you. I will start looking into how to secure one of the OS's. Looks like quite a bit of info out there on this subject. Thanks again.
