Turbo Dat 4/8GB & CPQ32FS2

I have a backup failing with " Device unavailable" and the NT event viewer just has a STOP event on "CPQ32FS2 - \Device\ScsiPort1." : The Tape device is a Turbodat 4/8gb and looks good with no errors on Insight manager.A COLD REBOOT brings the tape device back: The NT team are insisting that it's a TAPE DEVICE problem and want it swapping out. I've done this in the past but the fault comes back. Can you advise please

It could be because the scsi port is too fast for the tape device. Go into the F10 partition and Sys Config -> Config HW -> View and edit details -> Review and modify and then find the SCSI port with which the 4/8 is attached. There you will see SCSI BUS SPEED. Drop it down to SCSI-2 compliant and save and exit. It also could be the age of the driver and/or BIOS.
