I have read that the PCI slots on the PCI riser on my DL360 G4 are PCI-X and are backwards compatable with all of the other types of PCI slots. Is this a fact?
I pulled a soundblaster card out of another server and put it in my HP and got a boot error. It said something about "Type 2 PCI device cannot be configured by BIOS and must be configured by OS or driver." Then the boot freezes.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Re: Type 2 PCI device error
PCI-X is backwards compatible with everything EXEPT PCI conventional. An old 5v card will fit but not work. This is what I am finding. Does it sound correct?
