UPS Shuts off when trying to boot with serial cable connected

Server will not boot when communication cable is connected, if cable not connected, all works well. Took another Prolient 2500 server and connected its communication cable to the same UPS and it worked fine, so I know it is the Prolient 3000 that is sending some signal to the UPS to not start. Any ideas ??

Re: UPS Shuts off when trying to boot with serial cable connected

What type of UPS is connected? Is the UPS operating in battery mode during boot-up? Are there any power to the led on the front of the Server unit? If the UPS is a Compaq UPS, then a Compaq special serial cable should be used. No third party cable. Check the voltage from the UPS. Check the minimum voltage requirements for the server in question. If the actual voltage is less than the minimum supported voltage, the problem is with the UPS.

Re: UPS Shuts off when trying to boot with serial cable connected

We have a Proliant 3000 and an APC smart-UPS. This would trip into run calibration mode on restart. I found that boot.ini needed /noserialmice added to it as the com port was sending a signal on startup which triggered the UPS
