I have connected to the back usb ports:
Logitech, Inc. QuickCam E 3500

American Power Conversion Uninterruptible Power Supply

after 50 days uptime, usb ports became blind, devices became disconnected
working only front usb ports
after reboot all working

how can i solve the problem without reboot?

Re: USB and uptime problem

Was there any USB-related log messages in /var/log/messages?

If the problem reappears, you might try unloading & reloading the USB controller driver modules.

To identify the modules, run this command:

lsmod | grep _hcd

The output should be something like this:

uhci_hcd 19266 0
ehci_hcd 31868 0

(You may see ohci_hcd instead of uhci_hcd; if so, modify the commands below as appropriate.)

To unload the modules, run:

modprobe -r uhci_hcd ehci_hcd

To reload them:

modprobe uhci_hcd ehci_hcd

This should completely reset the USB controller chips. If that does not restore the rear USB ports, it might be a symptom of hardware problem in the system board.
