USB key and ML750

Hi:

I downloaded some firmware ROM Flash files which are >= 1.5 mb. The instructions say to save to a blank diskette or USB key. Since diskettes only hold 1.44 mb this seems a little strange ( http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/26468.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN download firmware flash for drives shows 1.519 mb size for example)

So, a USB key is a bootable "drive" on which you store the flash program.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24434.html (the USB key utility) says:

systems supported

HP ProLiant DL145 G2 Server
HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server
HP ProLiant ML110 G3 Server

So that means that these severs have built in ROM support for the key but I am screwed since ML750 doesn't support this USB key and the floppy is toooooo small.

Re: USB key and ML750

Hi,

That update you reefer to is for use with the firmware maintenance CD (file ends in .scexe)

You can find the same updates and apply them via bootable floppy here.
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17149.html

You don't need the 15 floppies which the kit consists of. Create diskette 1 and boot it. It will let you know which other diskette(s) you need to create based on what disk models it finds in your system.

Re: USB key and ML750

Hi:

Very confused. Some of my drives are not even listed on the above ref. Plus, the dates on the above are all 200-2002 while the files I cited are all Jan4 2007.

Re: USB key and ML750

The firmware maintenance CD is the easiest and most complete way to get all server firmwares uo to date. I have been using this for some time and it is a godsend.
