Ugrading to 36gb from 9 in a 0+1 Raid environment

Just got trown into the admin pool and my first task is upgrade my BDC which is a DL380 1gig from 4x9gig to 4x36. So after some intense researching I not satisifed with any of the answers I found.

Hi,

you allways can do the following:
backup
deconfigure 9gb disks
configure 36gb
restore backup

What do you have in mind?

greetings,

Michael

Rick,
Thanks for the response.
Not really sure where to actually start. The primary is currently running and The first upgrade is to be accomplished on the back up then when that's completed do the primary.

Fred,

what controller are the disks attached to?
They are they data and not system disks, right?

Do you know the ACU=Array Configuration Utility?

greetings,

Michael

ps. Rick?

Re: Ugrading to 36gb from 9 in a 0+1 Raid environment

Rick,
I know about the ACU but haven't used it before. My guess is that I'll just bring the server down, Pull the 9 gig drives out and install the 36's configure the drives and/or run the acu. Then let the primary run it's backup to the backup domain controller and monitor to ensure all is well. Then switch out the the servers so the backup becomes the primary and repeat the process some time next week after ensuring that all is well. My dl380 has 4x9.5 Gb and 1 hot spare which I'm replacing with the 36's
Thanks for the assist
