Re: Unable to Discover New Installed Memory and Processor

Hi!
DL385G5 have 2 proc sockets and 8 memory slots, and have not proc\mem cells.
What do you mean?

Re: Unable to Discover New Installed Memory and Processor

Hi,

Observe the following guidelines when installing additional memory:

1)Always install memory in pairs of two identical DIMMs.
2)Install only ECC PC2-5300 Registered DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs that meet the following specifications:
*

Supply voltage: 1.8 V
*

Bus width: 72 bits

3)Install DIMMs with the same speed.
4)Install memory in pairs (banks) beginning with banks farthest away from each populated processor (banks A and C).
5)Observe the following special conditions when installing memory with a second processor:
o

Processor 2 can be installed without memory.
o

Any memory installed into banks for processor 2 can be used only if processor 2 is installed.

Re: Unable to Discover New Installed Memory and Processor

i found the reason why system not picking up the newly added memory and processors.

The memory DIMM configuration(physical) across all the Processor/Memory Cell Boards should be the same.

1- DIMMs must be installed in Pairs.
2- DIMMs installed on the same memory bank (DIMM Pairs)
3- DIMMs installed in different banks can be of different sizes.
4- Aminimum of two DIMMs must be installed per processor.
5- DIMMs pairs must ve installed evenly across processor memory blades.
6- DIMMs must be installed in decreasing capacity with the largest DIMMs istalled in the banks furthest away from each processor.

what we were missing is point # 5.

Thanks for you all.
