Re: Unable to install PSP 7.90 on DL360 G4 with SQL 2005

Hi,
1) Try to install PSP remotely - i.e. run installation from application server
("tried to start it on another server (Application server) and I don't get any error")

2) Just in case - do yoo have France version of windows ? Or france regional settings ? Try to change to English and test

I have french regional settings.
I have tried remotely and it doesn't work.

I'll try changing the regional settings and let you know

Thanks for your help

Re: Unable to install PSP 7.90 on DL360 G4 with SQL 2005

I am having same problem. DL380 G5. Also has SQL 2005. Windows 2003 w/sp2. Also presently has support pack 7.6 installed.

Debugger says:

Unhandled exception at 0x77bd8fa7 in hpsum_discagnt.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000010.

HP - PLEASE HELP! Thank you!

Maybe you can install PSP one by one form smartatart CD , path:\compaq\csp\nt .

Re: Unable to install PSP 7.90 on DL360 G4 with SQL 2005

Hi,
I'm now trying to install PSP 7.91 and I still have the same problem...
Last time, I installed CPxxx by CPxxx... I think I cannot do anything else and stop wasting my time on searching a solution.
This is really annoying and I don't understand why HP doesn't do anything about it.

Re: Unable to install PSP 7.90 on DL360 G4 with SQL 2005

I also was attempting to installed 7.91a (not 7.90). I rean hpsum.exe on a remote machine and selected remote install to the machine that hpsum.exe was crashing on, it also "failed" the discovery task. I was finally able to install 7.91a by using HP Systems Insight Manager on another machine to deploy the support pack to this machine. It's obviously something with this new support pack installer introduced in 7.90.

Re: Unable to install PSP 7.90 on DL360 G4 with SQL 2005

I can just include myself as a user with problem... I have 4 DL360 G4 with PSP 7.60, and it's impossible to upgrade to 7.90 or 7.91. The setup-program crash when detecting the system.

I tried to install by deploying the supportpack via Insight Manager, and that failed as well... We are stuck with 7.60, but it would be nice it HP could take a closer look into this problem which occours for several users.

I have to correct myself... The servers we have problem with are DL380 G4 with Windows Server 2003.

Re: Unable to install PSP 7.90 on DL360 G4 with SQL 2005

I have tried to debug the failing installation... and hpsum_disagnt.exe crash when detecting the pci-devices in the server... There is a trace-file under "c:\document and settings\user\Local Settings\temp\hp_sum\target_0\discagent.trace", and on a server which the install-program works, it looks something like this:

discovery.cpp[291]: RILOE II/ILO driver = 'cpqrib2.inf'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '0E1100B10E1100B3'
discovery.cpp[291]: RILOE II/ILO driver = 'hpqilo2.inf'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '0E11B204103C3304'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '0E11B204103C3305'
discovery.cpp[192]: Creating the PCI Devices detection object.
winpcidevices.cpp[36]: CPCIDevices::CPCIDevices()
winpcidevices.cpp[44]: Opening the registry...
discovery.cpp[196]: Created the PCI Device List.
cdiscagnt.cpp[48]: CDiscoveryAgent::Valid() const = 1
cdiscagnt.cpp[58]: CDiscoveryAgent::StartDiscoveryClient()
baseclient.cpp[137]: CBaseClient::StartClient()
procbase.cpp[215]: CProcBase::CreateCallerSocket( '1086', '(null)' )
baseclient.cpp[147]: CBaseClient::CallerSocketReady()
cdiscagnt.cpp[464]: CDiscoveryAgent::DiscoveryClientConnected()
baseclient.cpp[190]: CBaseClient::WriteToManager( 'i ready 0' )
baseclient.cpp[268]: CBaseClient::CallerSocketInputArrived()
cdiscagnt.cpp[488]: CDiscoveryAgent::ManagerInputArrived( 'i start pass2' )
cdiscagnt.cpp[497]: Command received: 'i start pass2'
etc....

But on the DL380 G4-servers I have problems with, the trace-file ends like this:

discovery.cpp[291]: RILOE II/ILO driver = 'cpqcidrv.inf'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '0E11B2040E11B206'
discovery.cpp[291]: RILOE II/ILO driver = 'cpqrib.inf'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '808619600E11C000'
discovery.cpp[291]: RILOE II/ILO driver = 'cpqrib2.inf'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '0E1100B10E1100B3'
discovery.cpp[291]: RILOE II/ILO driver = 'hpqilo2.inf'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '0E11B204103C3304'
discovery.cpp[332]: Supported device '0E11B204103C3305'
discovery.cpp[192]: Creating the PCI Devices detection object.
winpcidevices.cpp[36]: CPCIDevices::CPCIDevices()
winpcidevices.cpp[44]: Opening the registry...
baseclient.cpp[46]: CBaseClient::~CBaseClient()
(end of file)

The destructor function is called before the pci-device list is created.

I'm not sure if this is helpful for the HP-employees, but something is clearly going wrong here.
