Unallocated Disk Space

I have just added a 4th disk into a Raid 5 config on our server. This all went well and the logical drive has expanded without any problems. However the actual C: drive is still not showing the extra space and is stating unallocated space of almost the 36GB I have added. How do I allocate the extra space to the drive. The attached is a screenshot of the Array Config Utility info for the drive and the disk properties.

Any advice much appreciated

Re: Unallocated Disk Space

You would need to expand your logical drive on the OS level, which in your case (some sort of Windows) is not that simple.

I believe you would need to use some tools like Partition Magic to expand it on-line (i.e. without reformatting the partition).

Or you could create 2nd partition (using Windows Disk Management), format & move some data from your C: drive onto it.

Rgds.

Re: Unallocated Disk Space

Agreed. You definitely need some 3rd party software to complete the extension. Or you can backup the system (ghost) and redeploy it on the bigger logical drive.

Thanks for your help. Spoke to tech support at HP and they sorted me out.
