Unattended Install of W2K3 on a DL380_G3

All the steps run well until the "winnt /s:s:\I386 U:c:\unattend.txt" command... The windows installation is starting, but the copy of the files never starts..... The disk activity is going crazy forever ....

However, If I stop the batch file before the winnt command, and I launch the command manually from DOS...it is working !!!

The unattended install of W2K works well on that machine and I am using the same batch file....

Thank you

If the problem would be a driver problem, the unattended install wouldn't work even if it is lauched manually(winnt /s:s\i386 /u:c:\unattend.txt).... It is also the same story on a DL580.

Re: Unattended Install of W2K3 on a DL380_G3

Hi,

I added a Reboot between The file copy and the winnt.exe command and it is working ! I don't beleive that a Reboot can fix everything but this time it is !!!!

:// Copy the customized UNATTEND.TXT file from the system
:// configuration diskette to the root directory of the target server's
:// hard drive
COPY S:\SVRBUILD\UNATTEND.TXT C:\
ECHO Setting State Information...
S:\CPQ\STATEMGR /W Phase 4
:// Reboot from CD
S:\CPQ\REBOOT CD

:State4 **************** STATE 4: Install Windows 2003 Unattended ****************

:// Start installation of the operating system using the
:// unattended installation instructions from the C:\UNATTEND.TXT file
ECHO Setting the state to allow diskette removal during the installation of Windows 2003
S:\CPQ\STATEMGR /W Phase 5
ECHO Starting operating system installation...
S:
S:\I386\WINNT.exe /S:S:\I386 /U:C:\UNATTEND.TXT
