Unknown Error Code

I recently installed an IDE controller into my proliant ML370G1.

When I try and boot the server I get the following message on the screen.

1706 SmartArray 5300 controller extended BIOS data memory has been corrupted. Array controller interupt 13h bios cannot continue. System halted.

If I disconnect the IDE drive (but the card still present) the server boots normally.

I have checked the server manual and the 5300 controller manual for more hints but this error code does not show up in either, can anyone shed any light on this or give me any hints on how to overcome this problem.
