Upgrade DL360G1 to DL380G4 running Windows 2003

All,

I wanted to move the existing logical drive containing windows 2003 OS from DL360 to DL380G4 and ran into one issue. The issue is booting into windows. I tried booting to safe mode and bluescreen and restarted itself. But I could boot it into a recovery mode and access the C and d drive and tried to disable some services and no luck.

Is there something I need change on the OS running dl360 before I can move drives to dl380 so it can boot to windows normally? Dl360 has 5i SA controller and dl380 has 6i SA controller. I thought both are using the same drivers.

Any suggestions?

Yes, there is something else you need to do.

Yes, they have the same drivers, but different registry entries.

Import the 6i reg file on the DL360 box, then move the drives.

Since the existing system does know "know" about the 6i, how can it use it?

The only issue you may run into is the different in chipset and processor, but I expect that the server would just boot up, find new hardware and load up drivers.

Have the latest PSP handy.

And make sure you doa backup before hand.
