Is it possible to migrate an existing Windows (2000 or 2003) installation from old to new hardware by simply removing the discs from the G3 server and inserting them into the G4 server? It'll probably be mandatory to re-install the HP Support Pack from the Smartstart CD ofcourse, but our main question is whether or not the OS will actually boot (without BSOD).
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Re: Upgrade DL380 G3 -> DL380 G4
I have done this several time, even going from G2 to G4 is possible.
There is a registry entry which you need to import into the box before you move your drives or take an image for re-deployment.
The entry tells the system about the 6i controller as the drivers are not enough.
You will need to reboot 1 or 2 times as after you swap the drives or deploy the image, Windows will find some new devices and need to load drivers for them.
Let me find the reg entry and I will post it.
