Upgrade RAM in ML350 G6

Hi! I have currently a ML350 G6 with two processors and 32GB of RAM, mainly for Hyper-V. I want to upgrade the ram, to be able to add more virtual machines, but I've been reading the user guide and I'm not sure how to do it.

This is my current RAM configuration:

Card1    Online

DIMM 1               Not installed

DIMM 2 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

DIMM 3 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

DIMM 4               Not installed

DIMM 5               Not installed

DIMM 6 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

DIMM 7               Not installed

DIMM 8               Not installed

DIMM 9 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

Card2    Online

DIMM 1               Not installed

DIMM 2 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

DIMM 3 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

DIMM 4               Not installed

DIMM 5               Not installed

DIMM 6 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

DIMM 7               Not installed

DIMM 8               Not installed

DIMM 9 (DDR3)               4096 Mbytes

All the installed modules are 501534-001, 4GB, 1333MHz, PC3-10600R-9, DDR3, dual-rank x4, 1.50V, registered dual in-line memory module (RDIMM).

How could I double RAM memory?? Can I use 8GB modules?? How I should populate the slots?

By the way, I think all my memory is running at 667MHz, can I improve this speed?

Re: Upgrade RAM in ML350 G6

Hi,

501534-001, is a,  4GB, 1333MHz, PC3-10600R-9, DDR3, dual-rank x4, 1.50V, registered dual in-line memory module (RDIMM).

  • PC3-10600 DIMMs have a maximum speed of 1333MHz. PC3-8500 DIMMs have a maximum speed of 1066MHz.
  • Mixing DIMM speeds is allowed, but the system processor speed rules always override the DIMM capabilities.

Refer to the QuickSpecs for DIMM configuration.  Also refer to www.hp.com/go/ddr3memory-configurator

64GB example for 2 cpu configuration using STD RDIMMs:

Channel 1: 2 x ( 4GB SR, 4GB SR, 4GB SR) (GDA)
Channel 2: 2 x ( 4GB SR, 4GB SR, 4GB SR) (HEB)
Channel 3: 2 x ( 0GB, 4GB SR, 4GB SR) (FC)

Channel 1: 2 x ( 0GB, 8GB DR, 8GB DR) (DA)
Channel 2: 2 x ( 0GB, 0GB, 8GB DR) (B)
Channel 3: 2 x ( 0GB, 0GB, 8GB DR) (C)

Use the memory configurator tool for better understanding.

Thank You!
