Upgrade from 8 SFF to 25 SFF on a DL380e Gen8?

We have a DL380e with a single 8 SFF cage, currently 6 SAS disks are installed and configured in a RAID6. It is using a 1GB p420 card and running Ubuntu 18.

- Can I upgrade this to a 25 SFF model, simply by changing the cage and backplane?

- Will I be able to keep the data on all the disks?

Many thanks, George

Hi,

Upgrading to 25SFF from 8 SFF might not be possible.

Drive cage changes are not supported. However you may add +8SFF to an existing 8SFF drive cage. Adding the rear drive cage negates the space required for secondary optional riser slots 5 & 6.

Thank you .

I can see that the case for the 25SFF and LFF models is about one inch longer.

I have ordered a 8SFF cage. This will do for the time being...
